Dear SCACA Members,

As we move into another year, I hope everyone had a chance to attend the All Sports Clinic in Charleston and enjoy some quality time with coaches and staffs of the high school and college ranks.  This is such a great time for our organization with the networking opportunities and relationships that are built from coach to coach.  Relationships that will last a lifetime!

I highly encourage all coaches to be a part of this special time and take advantage of all the things the SCACA has to offer.  As a coach beginning my career, I was unsure about a lot of things, but I am so glad I got involved with the SCACA through an auxiliary organization which led me to an opportunity to become more involved as a board member and, now president of the SCACA.  This involvement gave me such a broader understanding of how the SCACA works in conjunction with each high school, coach, athlete, and administration in sponsoring all-star events, awarding scholarships, organizing clinics, and promoting leadership of athletes through professional development of our coaches.

I am truly appreciative of the hard work of our board members, past presidents, auxiliary associations, coaches, and support staff who have made our organization one of the best in the country.  Their willingness to serve says a lot about our organization, but also a lot about the type of coaches we have in South Carolina, who have continued to move this organization forward and seen it grow to what it is today.  One of our mottos of the SCACA states “kids need coaches”, and I am so proud of our coaches who have accepted the calling to influence the lives of young adults while at the same time sharing the commitment to their families.

I want to take this time to thank you for allowing me to serve as your 71st President of the SCACA, I am truly humbled by this honor to serve with the coaches and individuals who have come before me.  Please be encouraged to remain a member of our association and encourage all other of your colleagues to do the same.  I encourage you to get involved with our association through attending business meetings, voting or becoming candidates for elections, attending clinics, or just involvement with your auxiliary group of your sport.  It is my hope that everyone has a wonderful year and the opportunity to see your school, kids, and athletic programs prosper.

Best of luck, and please let me know if I can be of any assistance to you or your program this year.

Sincerely,

David Byrd
